When I pack to leave the US, I weigh my luggage over and over again to get the most from the 50 pounds the airline allows me. I'm often asked what I bring back to Italy with me, so I thought I'd share some of the American goodies I don't like to live without.
American gum! Gum in Europe is slimy...and I'm a gum addict.
Tazo Zen tea- Sure, you can get tea here, but I love this blend of green tea with spearmint.
There's pasta everywhere, but there's nothing like processed cheese to offer a feeling of home.
Mashed potatoes! Yum! I've been since reminded that you can actually buy these here.
I love the 'normal' size chocolate chips I'm used to...and butterscotch too!
Pancetta- you ain't got nothin' on American bacon.
This is just a taste of some of the things I haul across the ocean each time I travel. It's changed a little each year as I become better at finding some Italian equivalents and more accustomed to the food products that are more readily available.
What tastes of home can't you live without?
