tons of tile.

tiles have been a thing in portugal for centuries.

literally.

while visiting in late march, i took the liberty of photographing a lot. of. tile.

because i happen to love straight lines and things geometric in nature.

so it's no surprise that i'm kinda fascinated by all the tile around portugal.

allora, here are some of the azulejos that caught my eye!

these are from porto.

igreja do carmo

up close

lots of blues and whites

sao bento train station

part of porto cathedral

chapel of souls

and just a couple from lisbon.

entire buildings were covered.

one of lisbon's most famous breweries: cervejaria trindade. it used to be a monastery.

and a few from sintra, a small town just outside of lisbon.

this one is, perhaps, not tile, but i love it.

so these were different.

tiled street signs, of course.
stay tuned for more on my trip to portugal!
